Stacie Hargis
Director
Stacie joined the Center in February of 2011. As Director, Stacie oversees the day to day operation of the Center and its strategic direction. Prior to joining the Center, Stacie worked in the Merrimack Valley as small business liaison in the Office of Congresswoman Tsongas. There she worked directly with small businesses to access a variety of resources and focused on economic development to promote growth in the region. Stacie graduated from the Regional Economic and Social Development Master's Program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell where her academic concentrations were on gender, wage, and labor issues, motivated by a passion for economic justice. Transitioning over to Community Teamwork, Inc. after years of public service is a natural next step in her career as an advocate of paths to self-sufficiency for underserved populations.
Stacie has a versatile background that includes research, outreach and management as well as the creative economy. As art director at a small design firm in West Palm Beach, FL, Stacie had direct experience with small business operations. She is an active member of the Lowell community, serving as Vice-Chair on the Cultural Organization of Lowell board and as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Center for Women and Work at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In her capacity as Director, Stacie also serves on boards and various subcommittees of the following organizations: the Greater Lowell Workforce Investment Board, Lowell Development and Finance Corporation, Massachusetts Community and Banking Council, Massachusetts Small Business Technical Assistance Advisory Council, and Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce.
Stacie also has a graduate certificate from the Women in Politics and Public Policy program at the McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL.
Terry Williams
Assistant Director
Terry joined the Center in the fall of 2003. She is a small business counselor and responsible for the Center's special projects, including the City of Lowell's Best Retail Practices Program.
Terry received a Masters in International Development from Clark University with a focus on microfinance. She has worked on income generating and microfinance programs in both Guatemala and Peru and was a volunteer at ACCION USA, a nationally recognized microfinance organization. Terry has also worked with immigrants and refugees in the Boston area while working at the International Institute of Boston and teaching English as a second language. She also has experience managing a variety of small businesses. She is fluent in Spanish.
Kristin Wallace
Business Advisor
Kristin joined the Center in December of 2011. Originally from Ellicott City, Maryland, Kristin brings many years of experience in the microfinance sector to her position as Business Advisor. She served as an Americorps VISTA volunteer with ACCION USA, Inc., a nationally recognized microfinance organization, in the Lowell and Lawrence offices, conducting outreach and direct lending to local small business owners. Later, as Loan Service Manager in their Boston headquarters, Kristin serviced ACCION USA’s loan portfolio of 1400+ active borrowers and provided loan and customer service to borrowers nationwide in both English and Spanish. She also was part of a team that initiated the organization’s Internet, Puerto Rico, and Hurricane Katrina Recovery loan programs. Prior to joining the Center, Kristin served as International Student Advisor at the Community College of Baltimore County. Kristin holds an M.B.A. and an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Tulane University and a B.A. in Latin American Studies from Carleton College. She is fluent in Spanish and comfortable with conversational Portuguese.
